The mountain’s temperature can shift dramatically , from warm days to freezing nights.

At Kilimanjaro Climbing Club, we believe that listening to your body is the key to staying comfortable, warm, and making your climb a success.
Trekkers who get cold easily need to plan carefully what clothes to bring.
Proper layering is key, and we’ll make sure you’re well-prepared with top-quality gear recommendations and expert packing advice.

We also share those extra little tips and tricks to make your journey as comfortable as possible.

You’ll need a large rucksack to carry your gear from one camp to the next. This bag will be transported by your porters.

We recommend a minimum of an 80L bag, though 90L is ideal to ensure everything fits comfortably.

Any items you won’t need during the daily hike should be packed in this large bag.

For your daypack, the lighter it is, the more comfortable your trek will be . In it , you should carry :

Water Bottle: Bring a lightweight bottle with at least 3 liters capacity. We’ll refill your water along the way, but it’s important your bottle is easy to carry. If you have a thermos, bring it. Regular bottles can freeze or get uncomfortably cold during the chilly summit night. Don’t worry, we provide hot tea to help keep you warm.

Extra Clothing Layers: As we gain altitude, you may need extra layers, including a warm hat , gloves, thermal clothing.

Sun Protection: Sunglasses, a sun hat, sunscreen, and lip balm are must-haves to protect you from strong sun exposure at high altitude.

Rain Gear: Weather can change suddenly. A waterproof jacket and trousers will keep you dry and comfortable in wet conditions.

Snacks: Bring high-energy snacks to keep your energy levels up during the hike.

Camera: To capture the breathtaking views.
